WP Symposium Pro 17.01 Release Notes

In Brief…

In the Core, we have new features for the profile, edit profile and avatar. The Extension plugin has enhancements for the directory and profile extensions.

Remember, if you use a CDN (like CloudFlare), caching, etc – purge/clear everything after updating.

Here’s what is in this release:

Core

Change Avatar

New options for [wps-avatar] to offer popup version to change avatar. Also available for [wps-avatar-change-link], but shares other values from [wps-avatar].

Profile

Added ‘firstlast’ as an option to [wps-display-name] to show first and last name, instead of display name.

Edit Profile

Added default tab on WPS Pro->Setup->Edit Profile page (when using tabs for profile information)

Miscellaneous

Updated back-end version of SimpleImage crop command (from cut)

Extensions

Directory

Roles are selected via WPS Pro->Shortcodes->Directory->[wps-directory]. You must select roles to appear. Added as checkboxes to avoid typos.

Can now sort by last name, see WPS Pro->Shortcodes->Directory->[wps-directory]. Also added an option to show first name and last name instead of display name, but think about this before using, does everyone set their first and last name? Do they know it will get displayed? Better to tell them!

Profile Extensions

When an image type is set up to “embed avatar and display name” as a profile header, two new options have been added to use first and last name, and whether to hide the links to change the avatar and edit the profile.
